Forgive me father for I have Syned

I have recently had the pleasure of presenting our company Life Kitchen at a few shows around the country. I was amazed with the amount of people that came up to me wondering how many Syns were in our meals.

This, to be honest was the first time I heard the phrase but after talking to people I got to understand it a bit more. For those that are not familiar with Slimming world it is all based around your daily quota of Syns. Typically, a person has 15 Syns per day. They are meant to use their Syn allotment. Basically you get a number of Free Foods that you can eat as much as you want. These are typically fresh vegetables, fruit and meat or other protein sources. So the more natural you eat the less Syns you consume!

I calculated the Syns in all our meals just to see how they did. Our meals are full of protein and are large portions. All our meals are shown in the table below. The results were done by using the Slimming World calculator on their site.

A number of our meals are Free so you could have as much of them as you want! Most meals you could have 3-8 portions before you use up you Syn allowance.

Firstly, this shows that our meals are natural made with meat and vegetables and that’s it! The fat content is very low, carbs are coming from the vegetables rather than complex carbs like starches.

One of the issues people find hardest when they are trying to eat healthily is the demand to be thing and preparing your next meals. I work as a nutritional mentor on a weight-loss programme called Precision Nutrition and one of the key habits we teach is preparing meals in advance and having them ready so that you have something prepared when you are hungry and then you are less likely to snack.
